Chapters and Loose Papers is the official SAA newsletter for students of Archival Science. It was launched in 2006 by Russell D. James, graduate of Lousiana State University and Donald Force, graduate of Indiana University. Russell served as its editor for the 2006-2007 academic year. Currently, he's chair of SAA's Records Management Roundtable.
The title,
Chapters and Loose Papers, calls upon images of books and documents, but it also suggests an interest and a focus on both SAA Student Chapters and those students who are not affiliated with SAA chapters.
There are two members on the
editorial board for the 2008-2009 academic year: Robynne Dexter, a senior at Virginia State University and the archivist of the US Army Women's Musuem, and Daniel
Donatacci, who
willis an MLIS student at San Jose State University and a PhD student add(English) hisat bitBrandeis in.University. The goal for the 2008-2009 issues is to expand the topics of the newsletter, to highlight student chapter activities, and to reflect student interests and to engage those whose interests may not be tied solely to student chapters. It is hoped that by using this medium, we can get more students involved, get ideas, challenges and projects highlighted.
This wiki site was established with the release of Volume 2, Issue 1. It is hoped that the site will grow as more students become members of the wiki, and it will serve to compliment and enhance the newsletter. The newsletter is unique as it is the only SAA Newsletter not affiliated with an SAA Roundtable.
